Doctrinal Disclaimer: VeriCat.org opensource catechesis material does not come with an ecclesial nihil obstat or imprimatur (it has not been reviewed or approved by ecclesiastical authority). It is recommended that anyone using this material should consult with their pastor or other competent authority prior to using it. Reasonable assurance of VeriCat material’s faithfulness to Catholic teaching can be obtained by viewing the “verification file” associated with the material, which contains copious citations to Magisterial documents that support key statements in the material. Please leave a contention on the material’s webpage if you believe there is an error or typo in any material. The foregoing obviously only applies to VeriCat reviewed and posted materials in the Database of Catechesis Material . Posts within the forums can be made by anyone who registers for the site and can not be entirely patrolled by VeriCat moderators, though we will try.

Note: VeriCat makes efforts to explicitly stay in full communion with Rome and our local ordinary (since this is a Catholic website after all). Our local ordinary is aware of the mission/methods of VeriCat and has affirmed that imprimaturs are not required on the content that we publish on the website (provided that it is clearly advertised that ecclesiastical authorities have not yet reviewed the content and that, while we try our best to provide reasonable assurance of the orthodoxy of materials, we can not guarantee it’s accuracy). This condition is met by the mandatory use of disclaimers on coverpage of all VeriCat catechesis materials. We hope to pay for our most popular/deserving content to obtain imprimaturs in the future.

General Disclaimer: VeriCat.org is a public resource that is open to public people to interact with in public ways. While we would hope that users would keep it civil, it is possible that users may say offensive things, try to scam you, try to harm you, try to post malware/viruses, etc (especially through the private messaging tools within the Forum and external links). Reasonable attempts have been made to scan, filter, and otherwise moderate content on VeriCat.org, but we can not guarantee safety and we will not be held liable for harm.

Copyright Disclaimer: Under section 107 of the Copyright Act of 1976, allowance is made for “fair use” of copyrighted materials for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, education and research. Citations and limited excerpts of copyrighted material that might otherwise be infringing are permitted for “fair use” without the need for permission from the rights holder. Users contributing materials to VeriCat.org have agreed that to the best of their knowledge they have not plagiarized or violated any copyrights. If you believe a copyright infringement has occurred, please report it to director@vericat.org and we will work to resolve the issue.
